Applying

The “at large” slots are filled by the Reconciliation League administrative team through an open process that allows students from any non-member school to apply. The League selection committee will award approximately 15% of the fellowships for each cohort through this process.

Each applicant is free to craft a presentation of his or her case for selection; however, no applicant will be considered unless the application is supported by a recommendation letter from a faculty member of the applicant’s school warranting that the applicant meets League standards for admission. Each application must contain:

• A personal statement describing the student’s academic interests, reasons for seeking to participate in the program, and how the student expects the experience to contribute to their future academic, personal, and professional development.
• A short essay in which the student identifies a significant challenge, opportunity, or question affecting a community or environment with which they are personally familiar and discusses how they would begin to understand or address it.
• A brief statement from the League Liaison or selection chair explaining why the school selected the student and how the student exemplifies the qualities and objectives of the program.
• A faculty recommendation commenting on the student’s academic abilities, character, capacity for collaboration, and potential to contribute meaningfully to the program.
• A curriculum vitae or resume summarizing the student’s academic, research, extracurricular, service, employment, or other relevant experiences.
• An official or unofficial academic transcript.
